Google Chrome Gets Big Speed Boost With Brotli

Google Chrome Gets Big Speed Boost With Brotli

Alphabet Inc. has come up with a data compression algorithm, named as Brotli, which will assist in loading websites quickly. In the times to come, Google Chrome users are likely to embrace a boost in performance since the company to boost the loading time has derived a new technology.

The search engine giant’s latest compression algorithm is expected soon. Once the update is released for the next version of Chrome, the feature will pave its way to the masses. Ilya Grigorik, the Web performance engineer posted on Google+ recently. Initially, the company unveiled this service in September. However, they did not provide any details regarding the availability of it then.

According to the statistics generated by the company, the service will be 20 to 26% better than the present compression algorithm used. Currently Zopfli is used for this purpose; the small compression size will make it easier for the pages to load faster. Those who use Google Chrome on mobile devices will get access to better features such as minimal battery usage and low data transfer fees.

Data compression is the mechanism of minimizing data, which makes it use less space with convenience in transferring. Data tends to be compressed more densely through this manner. It makes it easier for the Internet to travel fast with the use of minimal resources. At this point of time, the platform by the company is open sourced thus other tech giants can amalgamate the algorithm for other browsers.

“We hope that this format will be supported by major browsers in the near future,” a software engineer belonging to the compression team of Google, Zoltan Szabadka, mentioned in September. Before this Mr. Patrick McManus, the head at Mozilla claimed that the organization would soon offer support for Brotli. However, it is quite unclear at this point of time when it would come up with this update.

It is evident now that the company is now devoted to make the waiting process for websites relatively easier. It will make websites loading faster and user-friendly. The tech behemoth also came up with a new venture known as Accelerated Mobile Pages, which is a unique way of it to offer mobile search results faster and enables users to load them quickly.

Hence, this great move by Google attracts the masses that are fed up with spending time and staring at a boring screen taking ages to load.

Google Pulls Out Bookmark Manager From Chrome Browser

Launched last year, the feature did not prove to be too popular amongst users.

After several months of silence, Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOGL) has come out in the open, albeit quietly by confirming that it has ripped out the new bookmark manager, and will revert back to the old one.

Apparently, users found the new application, which launched late last year, to be too complicated to understand, let alone know how to operate – and it did not prove to be popular amongst its users.

It did not happened after a long span of experimentation, when Google launched the new bookmark manager last year, complaints started to quickly flow into the Google Product Forums, pointing to the difficulty in using the software, as well as confusing enough to understand it’s working.

Despite the U-Turn, the company has still committed to improving the bookmark experiences of its customer, whereas for those who enjoyed it can install an extension for the application.

While many users have expressed their dismay of how they have been stuck up with the application, for the same reason though, there have been some who are helpful enough to understand what should be corrected.

For starters, most of those who comment on the forum said that the bookmarks manager was slow in operation; it was useless when there are several different layers of bookmarks or folders, more like a tree structure. It seems that some of the “screen grab” images give no idea about what page it is representing.

Some also compared the working of the previous bookmark manager to the new one. As mentioned, speed in the previous one was almost at an instantaneous rate, many things could be seen at once. When bookmarks are listed, the whole URL can be seen, many folders can be seen in the dropdown (in contrast to the folders and sub folders in the new one), and last but not the least, files can be easily shared, as well as exported and imported.

The endnote from consumers is that the search engine giant is requested to not throw half-baked products into the market. From a customer point of view, try to experiment with the products themselves before they roll it out in the market. They should understand that everyone is a tech savvy and do not want to be boggled down with complex products, which can totally throw the product into a disarray.

Google’s stock price ended the previous day at $543, a decline of 0.80% from the previous day.

Bidness Tech - Google Chrome Live Featuring in Chrome OS devices

With the recent announcement about the launch of Chrome products, the event will demonstrate different Chrome OS devices including Chromebooks and Chromeboxes.

Google Inc has planned to organize Chrome Live, an event that will demonstrate different Chrome OS devices, including Chromebooks and Chromeboxes. With the recent announcement about the launch of its Chrome products, the event took place in April.

At the event, different speakers talked about the evolution of Chrome devices into the workplace. The technology was made evident for Chrome for Work platform, particularly by Rajen Sheth, Director of Product Management for Android and Chrome for Work, as he shared his views. Other Google employees also talked about different products, and how they are designed to help achieve employee’s tasks within their business.

Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) news informs us that the company is also busy fiddling away again, now letting users assign nicknames to anyone in your address book. So if anyone of your contact is actually a jerk, that is exactly what you can say to dial him.

The 4.4 version update features nicknames, letting you call or text your contact in the assigned way, such as “call my brother” or “text my wife.” The update has rolled out, and you can get started immediately, by downloading the app from the Google Play Store.

The Voice feature has been trusted by many these days and is a quick, and short way to keep in contact with family and friends. A smart lock tool easily allows you to unlock your phone by voice recognition. Android Police states that the Smart lock tool is a good design that will only allow the owner to perform actions on the device, restricting anyone else from using it.

The nickname feature has been designed for users to assign as many nicknames as they would like. Reports say this feature is limited to English language for the time being, but sooner or later features like these probably will come out on other languages as well.

“Seamless Hotword” is another tool designed features additional voice commands, with customizing abilities to use it according to your requirement. We’ll surely have our eyes on it, and will update you any further information regarding the tech.

Google’s own apps have a lot of potential hidden within them. Try out the nickname feature, customize it according to your needs, and feel the power of Android. The upcoming of these new features gives a clear indication that Google is not going to leave alone the capabilities of voice command. This will allow you to perform multiple tasks in the future, hands-free.
