Microsoft has launched its flagship store at Fifth Avenue.
Apple recently announced to establish its flagship store. Thus, now following the lead of the tech giant, Microsoft Corporation has also established its first store at 53rd Street New York along with Fifth Avenue.
The idea behind this flagship store is to allow the Microsoft users to engage and interact with the company’s products through first-hands experience. The outlet has been designed in a manner that caters to the shopping culture at Fifth Avenue.
According to the company’s press release, the Windows 10 producer has been working hard to come up with this stores for more than six years approximately. The store currently has five floors that cover an area of 22,369 sq. ft. So a similar store service experience will be offered to visitors like the company’s retail outlets. The only thing that is an added advantage is the interactive experience that has not been offered at their other retail stores yet.
In 2009, the organization established its first retail store in Arizona, Scottsdale, whereas the first outlet by Apple was constructed in 2001. This does not mean that Microsoft retail is stumbling in any way since the company is already operating a series of stores in almost 189 global markets that have housed almost one billion people who have tried using their products and services.
David Porter, Chief Vice President of Microsoft’s Worldwide Retail and Online Stores’, mentioned in a comment, “Our store on Fifth Avenue — as well as every other one of our locations across the U.S., Puerto Rico, and Canada — is here to showcase the best of Microsoft to the local community. We exist to build relationships with our customers, one person at a time, and we are excited to do that on Fifth Avenue starting today.”
As per the company, management is extremely happy with the launch of the flagship store and will be celebrating that throughout the day. Kevin Turner, the chief operating officer will commence the inauguration ceremony of the store. Once the ribbon is cut, a curtain will fall down and the store interiors will be revealed for the masses.
The good news is that the company will also offer tickets to its community concert to around a thousand people who are in line to grace the event. Pitbull will perform at the said concert. Windows 10 will not be a game changer for Intel PC Chips.
Intel Corporation is one of the most prominent names in the tech sector that governed a substantial chunk of their operating income by selling personal computer chips. So now the personal computer market is about to undergo a major disruption and Intel has kept eyes on this change which the company and the market will embrace in the times to come.However, despite INTC earns a good chunk of its revenues from personal computers, the market for such hardware has been declining lately. During the first quarter of FY15, the shipment of personal computers has declined by 5.2 per cent when comparing the previous year performance reports Gartner- the research firm.Moreover, the most prominent decline which Intel faced was also from this particular division. This is an alarming state for the company since Personal Computers were their core consumer base. So now the company will now have to remove $1 billion from its forecasted revenues due to the negligible demand of personal computers.However, at this point Intel does not expect that the upcoming Windows 10 will be a game changer for them or the personal computer industry. “We are going through another transition, Windows 10 upgrades…We’re seeing some quarter-to-quarter pushing, but we continue to take a view of our long-term forecast…the PC market should be flat to slightly down mid-single-digits over the long-term,” reports the chief executive officer of Intel Mr. Brian Krzanich on Thursday at the company’s annual shareholders meeting.However, the CEO was not much concerned about how this might impact the growth of the company in the years to come. He is extremely optimistic and believes that the growth from the company’s data center business will compensate for the losses obtained through a decline in PC sales.It has been reported that the company’s data center grew almost 18 per cent the previous year which is now likely to become a $14 billion business.“We look at it as our next big growth engine for the company,” he added.At this point, the company does not know how the decline in sales of PC chip which actually affect them. From the previous quarter, the company has been under the umbrella of a unified business mechanism known as “Client Computing Group- effectively buying the $4 billion-plus loss it was seeing from its mobile unit.”So now Intel knows that Windows 10 will not be much of a game changer for them, therefore they need to put more efforts to push its data center business.
Microsoft cannot really compete with iOS and Android ecosystem.
Microsoft Corporation has been a major game player in the world of laptops, personal computers, and tablets to some extent, but the company has been stumbling when it comes to smartphones since a long while now. Microsoft products have established their niche market, but smartphones have never been their thing.
The two operating system which have become a major game player in the mobile interface domain is Apple Inc's iOS and Google Inc's Android. They have been present in the market for a fairly long time and have made their strong market presence. During this time, Microsoft was only stumbling when both these operating systems were establishing its market. However, many skeptics believe that Windows 10 will not be a game changer for them as well since the mess has already been made.
There are several problems associated with Windows operating system. Firstly, developers have sidelined this operating primarily to the limited stream of revenues along with the lack of opportunity when comparing Android or iOS. Developers tend to spend a great amount of time in building these two operating system that apps on Windows are hardly updated. Most of the time, the Window users complain that they do not get a similar experience like the two operating system. Moreover, few Microsoft products that are highly demanded are also rolled out on other OS without understanding that they need to work on their platform at this point of time.
However, Microsoft at this point is trying to enforce the fact that this new operating system will be a breakthrough for them. The new browser known as Project Spartan is expected to be a game changer for the firm which will redefine the browsing experience. They will now also have an Action Center that will allow users to receive notifications and sync data on various platforms. They are reportedly working on an on- screen keyboard that will be floating. Moreover, A Siri-like feature known as Cortana will act like a personal assistant of the user keeping him well equipped with everything he needs to know.
Irrespective of the fact that new features have been launched, we do not see that any damage can be caused to the market share of Apple and Google. However, Microsoft efforts need to be commended since now they are at least trying to pave their way to redemption.
Hence, in a nutshell, Microsoft will gradually pave its way to redemption and meanwhile these steps will act as a catalyst to embrace the change on a broader canvas.
